Affirming Ministry

"Our vision is to be a safe community, where no one feels alone, and everyone feels at home."

We are thrilled and delighted to share that Faith United Hamilton has initiated the Affirming process to become apart of the Affirming Ministries Program. The program is a network of primarily United Church ministries that strive to be fully inclusive of people of all sexual orientations and gender identities!

On March 16th, our Affirming Team convened for their inaugural meeting to kickstart this journey. We eagerly anticipate the transformative impact this journey will have on the future of Faith. You're invited to join us on this path by attending our Sunday morning worship services at 11:00 a.m. in the Faith United Sanctuary - everyone is welcome.

To celebrate our first Pride month in 2024 as an aspiring Affirming congregation, our Affirming Team was presented with a Pride flag by our Visioning Team. This gesture symbolized the Visioning Team's support and commitment to the efforts of our Affirming Team. We also provided Pride pins to our community of faith to wear with their name tags.

In August 2024, we participated in Pride Hamilton sharing a booth with other affirming churches in the surrounding area. Pride Hamilton is more than a party — it’s a space where people can be seen, celebrated, and safe being exactly who they are. It reminds us that inclusion, visibility, and love still matter deeply.

On March 14, 2025, we celebrated our first P.I.E Day (National Affirming Day). Our Affirming Team hosted a successful karaoke social with lots of fun had and even more pie to eat! PIE Day — standing for Public, Intentional, and Explicit — is a chance for communities of faith to show clear support for 2SLGBTQIA+ inclusion. It’s not just about saying "everyone is welcome" — it’s about living it out loud, in ways that are visible, committed, and authentic.
